Basic harness

The course enables participants to use fall protection equipment when carrying out assignments at height. Participants gain knowledge of standards and regulations, fall theory, the principles of strain, and risk assessment, so that participants can take charge of their own and other people’s safety using fall protection equipment.

In addition, participants will be enabled to carry out inspections and maintenance on the equipment, and adapt and adjust personal fall protection equipment. They will also gain proficiency in using passive safety measures when entering, moving about and returning.

Employees in the building and construction industry.

People employed or wishing to be employed in the scaffolding area.

Personnel employed by the emergency services.

Employees in the offshore industry.

OBJECTIVES

  • To gain knowledge of fall theory.
  • To carry out planned work at height in accordance with current Work Environment Authority requirements for fall protection.
  • Ability to operate and use various types of protective gear in accordance with current requirements and standards.
  • Proficiency in putting fall protection equipment together correctly.

TESTS
Continual checks by means of questioning techniques in the theoretical part.
The participant completes all exercises with satisfactory results.
