First aid for illness
– elective training course

DURATION
1,5 hours (90 minutes)

GENERAL DEVELOPMENT GOALS
Participants will be able to act appropriately in the event of emergency situations in connection with illness and assess and give relevant first aid in critical or life-threatening situations involving illness.

TRAINING COURSE CONTENT

First aid for diseases affecting the central nervous system

  • blood clot/cerebral thrombosis
  • diabetes
  • cramps/epilepsy
  • fever cramps

First aid for diseases affecting the respiratory system

  • Asthma,
  • chronic bronchitis, COPD,
  • false croup
  • severe allergic reaction

First aid for diseases affecting the circulatory system

  • blood clot/coronary thrombosis
  • diseases involving acute pain in the abdominal area
  • fainting and dehydration

Realistic exercises are practised with emphasis on training participants in the 4 key steps of first aid and the ABC method.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TRAINING COURSE
The course will have a minimal focus on theory, and will instead primarily entail realistic exercises, participant reflection and practical training. Exercises and training must be carried out in a relevant and suitable area with the inclusion of realistic props.

COMMENTS
In order to receive the Danish First Aid Council’s first aid certificate or Specialist training program certificate, this program must be completed as an extension of the “First aid for accidents” or “First aid for cardiac arrest” basic training courses. Alternatively, participants must have completed a Danish First Aid Council basic training course within the last 24 months.

This course does not cover basic life support.
