– Training in Firefighting and Smoke Diving – Refresher Course
Purpose
The course serves to refresh knowledge and skills related to smoke diving for firefighting on ships, in accordance with STCW A-VI/1-2.
This training meets the requirements set by the Danish Maritime Authority for fire-fighting education on ships.
The course is approved by the maritime authority and complies with the standards of the STCW Convention.
Target Audience
Seafarers functioning as smoke divers during shipboard fires. The course is open to individuals who have completed a three-day fire-fighting training program for ships, as stipulated by the STCW Convention.
Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will acquire knowledge and be able to apply:
- Refreshing respiratory techniques.
- Refreshing smoke diving tactics.
- Refreshing hose deployment strategies.
- Refreshing extinguishing techniques.
- Reviewing the structure and functionality of smoke diving equipment.
- Conducting search exercises on a smoke diving course and within a building.
- Performing two operational drills involving rescue and firefighting aboard a training vessel.

Assessment
Ongoing assessment through questioning techniques during the theoretical segment. Participants must complete all exercises with satisfactory results.
A certificate will be issued upon completion of the training, which will be reported to the Danish Maritime Authority.
Notes
- The training is quality assured according to the requirements of the maritime authority.
- Participants must bring valid health documentation in the form of a seafarer’s book (maximum 2 years old examination) or a health certificate from a maritime physician (maximum 2 years old).
- A valid Smoke Diver Certificate STCW A-VI/1-2 that has not yet expired.
- Instruction can be provided in both Danish and English.
