– Training in Firefighting and Smoke Diving
Purpose
The course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and practical skills required to act as a firefighter/smoke diver in combating fires on ships.
The training meets the requirements set by the Danish Maritime Authority for firefighting training on ships.
The course is approved by the Maritime Authority and complies with the requirements of the STCW Convention.
Target audience
Seafarers who need to operate as firefighters in case of ship fires.
Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be familiar with, and capable of applying:
- Understanding of combustion theory.
- Comprehension of extinguishing methods.
- Knowledge regarding the use of extinguishing agents.
- Proficiency in operating hand-held extinguishing equipment.
- Ability to utilize fog nozzles and foam equipment.
- Familiarity with respiratory systems and various aspects of respiratory function.
- Understanding the structure and operation of a breathing apparatus.
- Competence in using breathing apparatus for rescue operations and firefighting on board ships.

Assessment
Continuous assessment through questioning techniques during theoretical sessions.
Participants must successfully complete all practical exercises to receive certification upon completion, which will be reported to the Danish Maritime Authority.
Notes
- The training is quality assured according to the requirements set by the maritime authority.
- Participants must present valid medical documentation in the form of a seafarer’s book (maximum 2 years old examination) or a health certificate from a maritime physician (maximum 2 years old).
- Instruction can be provided in both Danish and English.
