Basic Height Rescue
and Evacuation – Refresher
Purpose
In this refresher course, participants will revisit skills related to evacuating a colleague suspended by a harness or stretcher using methods such as lowering or hauling techniques.
Participants will select appropriate height rescue equipment; they will receive training on correct usage along with first aid practices.
Target audience
The target audience for Basic Height Rescue and Evacuation Refresher includes employees within construction sectors, wind energy industry personnel, emergency response staff members alongside those working offshore.
Objectives
Participants should be able to:
- Develop an evacuation plan.
- Execute planned work at heights according to current occupational safety requirements regarding fall protection.
- Conduct their own evacuations.
- Carry out evacuations while initiating rescues for colleagues suspended by harnesses or stretchers utilizing methods such as lowering or hauling.
- Select appropriate height rescue gear; demonstrate correct usage while providing first aid when necessary.

Assessment
Continuous assessment through questioning techniques during theoretical sections of training programs; successful completion required across all practical exercises before receiving certification upon finishing training.
Notes
Maximum personal weight including work attire is capped at 136 kg per equipment specifications; valid Basic Height Rescue & Evacuation certification not yet expired is required.
