– Fire Leader
Purpose
The course provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to serve as a fire leader in combating fires on ships. The training meets the requirements set forth by the Danish Maritime Authority regarding Fire Management education. This course is approved by the maritime authority and complies with the stipulations of the STCW convention.
Target Audience
Maritime personnel who need to function as fire leaders during shipboard fires.
Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will have gained knowledge and be able to:
- Understand the specific conditions associated with fires on ships.
- Comprehend fire management functions both during emergencies and in daily operations.
- Apply leadership principles during firefighting efforts.
- Organize and execute a minor fire drill.
- Refresh their knowledge of smoke diving tactics.
- Act as a fire leader during a simulated exercise involving a ship fire.
- Utilize breathing apparatus for rescue and firefighting in case of a ship fire.

Assessment
Ongoing assessment through questioning techniques during the theoretical part of the course. Participants must successfully complete all exercises to receive certification upon finishing the training.
Notes
- The training is quality assured according to the requirements of the maritime authority.
- Participants are required to present valid health documentation in the form of a seafarer’s book (maximum 2 years old examination) or a health certificate from a maritime physician (maximum 2 years old).
- Instruction can be provided in both Danish and English.
