STCW A-VI/2-1
– Training in the Operation of Lifeboats – Refresher Course
Purpose
The course refreshes essential knowledge and skills as outlined in STCW A-VI/2-1, enabling participants to safely perform the duties of a lifeboat, life raft, and man-overboard (MOB) boat operator. This training meets the requirements set forth by the Danish Maritime Authority for the operation of lifeboats. The course is approved by the maritime authority and complies with the standards established by the STCW Convention.
Target Audience
This course is designed for individuals who have completed a two-day training program in the operation of lifeboats, in accordance with the STCW Convention.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will acquire knowledge and be able to apply:
- Operation and construction of: Life rafts, lifeboats, and man-overboard boats.
- Lifesaving equipment.
- Learning lifesaving first aid techniques for managing bleeding, shock, and hypothermia.
- Introduction to Fast Rescue Boats (FRB), including their construction, equipment, and outfitting.

Assessment
Continuous assessment through questioning techniques during theoretical instruction. Participants must complete all practical exercises satisfactorily. Certificates will be issued upon completion of training and reported to the Danish Maritime Authority.
Notes
- The training is quality assured according to maritime authority requirements.
- Participants are required to present valid medical documentation in the form of a seafarer’s book (maximum 2 years old examination) or a health certificate from a maritime physician (maximum 2 years old).
- A valid certificate in Lifeboat Operation STCW A-VI/2-1 that has not yet expired.
- The course may be conducted in both Danish and English.
- The course does not include Fast Rescue Boats (FRB).
