STCW A-VI/1-1
– Basic Safety at Sea – Refresher
Purpose
The course refreshes knowledge and skills acquired through STCW A-VI/1-1 Basic Safety at Sea. It is approved by the Maritime Authority and meets the requirements of the STCW Convention.
Target audience
Seafarers employed on vessels where they perform operational duties as part of the crew.
Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will gain knowledge and be able to apply:
- Emergency situations that may arise (collision, grounding, fire, shipwreck, etc.)
- An overview of rescue equipment typically found on ships.
- The equipment of rescue devices.
- The location of personal flotation devices.
- Principles for survival at sea.

Duration
Half a day
Assessment
Ongoing assessment through questioning techniques during the theoretical portion. Participants must successfully complete all practical exercises.
A certificate will be issued upon completion of the training and reported to the Maritime Authority.
Notes
- The training is quality assured according to the requirements set by the Maritime Authority.
- Participants must bring valid health documentation in the form of a seafarer’s book (maximum 2 years since examination) or a health certificate from a maritime doctor (maximum 2 years old).
- A valid Basic Safety Certificate STCW A-VI/1-1 that has not yet expired is required.
- Instruction can be provided in both Danish and English.
