Competent Person
Purpose
Participants gain competency enabling them to perform inspections on non-technical fall protection gear—that which does not require disassembly for inspection purposes—gaining fundamental understanding regarding this type of gear while being capable of maintaining logs pertaining mandatory inspections.
Target audience
The target audience for Competent Person consists of employees within construction sectors; wind turbine industry workers; personnel engaged with emergency response teams; professionals active within offshore environments; alongside individuals tasked with responsibilities involving confined spaces like wells/tanks etc.
Objectives
Participants should be able to:
- Record device information into logbooks
- Conduct inspections on non-technical devices
- Be knowledgeable about relevant laws/regulations governing this field
- Comprehend manufacturers’ instructions effectively
- Possess familiarity towards types associated with falling protections systems available today

Assessment
Continuous assessment through questioning during theoretical segments.
Participants must complete all exercises satisfactorily to receive certification upon course completion.

This course grants competent persons authority over inspecting specified brands produced by Sperian—including labels like Miller Söll Komet Troll Meckel Swelock and Antec — as well other devices manufactured by Skylotec Petzl etc.
