STCW A-VI/2-1
– Training in the Operation of Lifeboats
Purpose
This training meets the requirements set forth by the Danish Maritime Authority concerning the operation of lifeboats. The course is approved by the authority and complies with the stipulations outlined in the STCW convention.
Target Audience
Individuals who will be part of a ship’s operational crew and are responsible for operating lifeboats, rescue boats, and man-overboard (MOB) boats.
Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will gain knowledge and practical skills regarding:
- The operation and construction of: liferafts, lifeboats, and man-overboard (MOB) boats.
- Rescue equipment.
- Life-saving first aid, including managing bleeding, shock, and hypothermia.

Assessment
Continuous assessment through questioning techniques during the theoretical part of the course. Participants must successfully complete all practical exercises to receive certification upon course completion, which will be reported to the Danish Maritime Authority.
Notes
- Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- Hold certificates for STCW codes A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3, and A-VI/1-4.
- Have accumulated 6 months of sea service on seagoing trading vessels.
- The training is quality assured in accordance with the requirements set by the Danish Maritime Authority.
- Participants must present valid health documentation in either a seafarer’s book (maximum 2 years since examination) or a medical certificate from a maritime doctor (maximum 2 years old).
- This course does not cover Fast Rescue Boats (FRB).
